Autoscopy

For my autoscopy, I wanted to do something fun and magical. I love butterflies, (I also incorporated a butterfly into my calligram project) and during this entire coronavirus quarantine I have been feeling very down. I've been coping with recent struggles in my life by taking time every day to walk outside with my dog and to meditate. Something about butterflies and their freedom and grace brings me comfort. I wanted my alteration of myself to be "whimsical" and to appear like I was having some kind of awakening, one involving butterflies I guess. I made my eyes more green to pull out the colors in the background and used butterflies to frame my face. I wanted the butterflies to only be on one half almost like they are drawn to a certain aspect of my mind. I had a lot of fun with this project and love the results!

  1. Feedback:
    1. I think it turned out really great.
The butterfly arrangement was really well though-out and pretty
    2. Was there a reason why you used orange butterflies?
Maybe saturate more the flowers on your shirt
3.Good idea to crop the original photo for the assignment

  2. This is a very beautiful project! I think the butterflies fit perfectly and really make the project unique. It looks like you also made your eyes more blue, and I think that small detail made a big difference. Did you have fun working on this project? Also, was there any reason why you decided to use the orange butterflies? Great Job!

    1. Thank you!! I did make my eyes more blue. I had a lot of fun with this project it was definitely my favorite one from the semester. I chose the orange butterflies because monarchs are one of my favorites and we see them in New Hampshire.

  3. Amanda, I love butterflies and they look so realistic here! The placements look very strategic as if they were flying around you. One thing I might've done to make this better was to change your shirt to a plain one so you could focus on the butterflies themselves and not be distracted by the flowers. I think this looks really well done regardless. Great job!

  4. I love this so much. The photo itself was a great choice, an d the additions you have made to it compliment the photo very well. The butterflies definitely add a really beautiful personal touch that I love. The only suggestion I have is to maybe add a few more butterflies, I think they are so beautiful so you should showcase them even more.

  5. The butterflies look so realistic! I like how this turned out. It's something so simple, but it makes your image pop. The only thing I would have done differently is to make the butterflies more vibrant. Also, to pick colors that bring out the color of your eyes. Other than that, great job!
